Breckenridge Tubing
What better way to enjoy the winter than by getting out and sledding or tubing down a nice steep hill! Stop into Walmart in Frisco right off 70 and get a sled or two and prepare for some undeniable fun!
Sledding locations include Breckenridge and Frisco. Tubing is available in Frisco and Keystone.
Carter Park in Breckenridge features a sledding hill for all ages, as well as stunning views. Snow in the high rockies is lighter and fluffier than at lower elevations, hence the term “powder”. The first few times coming down the hill, you may find yourself sinking into the soft snow. Enjoy the experience!
Carter Park’s indoor heated warming area is convenient after spending a few hours in the snow. Warm up in front of the big fireplace. Bring a picnic and grill out on the large natural gas grill, and don’t forget the hot chocolate. Or you can get out and experience one of the many culinary options in Breckenridge.
Frisco Aventure park offers a free sledding hill as well as tubing at reasonable rates. The park has 5 tubing lanes serviced by an easy to use surface lift. The tracks are almost a quarter of a mile long and open snow or shine. Wear warm clothes, hats, gloves, but no ski boots. Flying down the 1,200-foot tubing lanes is sure to get your adrenaline pumping! Feel free to slide solo or go down together!
Keystone Nordic Center also offers tubing on a standard hill.
For the more daring, try the man-made tube shoots from the top of Dercum Mountain! The lanes are about 150 feet long, and steep enough to elicit a big smile, if not an expression of exhilaration! The hill has plenty of snow with three “half-tube” lanes carved into it. Serviced by an escalator back up to the top, each loop takes about 10 minutes. A premier tubing location, it is well worth the drive through scenic Keystone!
